Women and Games: What Are the Issues Today?
Long perceived as a predominantly male space, the world of games—board games, video games, and role-playing games alike—is now shaped by a wide diversity of profiles, practices, and career paths. Women players, designers and authors, illustrators, publishers, and editors all contribute to the ongoing evolution of this field.
This conference offers a moment for discussion and collective reflection on representations, gender stereotypes, and lived experiences within the gaming world. Drawing on data, testimonies, and concrete situations, we will examine the mechanisms—sometimes invisible—that influence creation, practice, and recognition in games.
Open to everyone, this event aims to be a space for dialogue, sharing experiences, and stepping back, in order to better understand the current challenges facing the gaming world and to collectively imagine practices that are ever more welcoming and enriching for the entire gaming community.
The press conference will be held in French.
Speakers:
Anouk Girard-Dagnas: Former Project Manager at Libellud, co-founder of Acacia Editions, and Localization Manager at Blackrock Games.
Élodie Clément: Board game designer since 2018 and, since 2025, instructor at Board Game Campus, the Brussels-based school dedicated to training in game creation and publishing.
Chloé Lafleur: Educator in Relationship, Affective, and Sexual Education, she leads training sessions and conferences focused on relationships, representations, and gender issues.
